HUME Planning Solutions was established by Paul Hume in January 2015 and is a specialist consultancy providing planning and scheduling services worldwide working with clients, contractors and project management companies.

With over 18 years industry experience with both contractors and consultants Paul has been involved with some of the most challenging and high profile projects in the world.

At Hume Planning Solutions, we have a range of sector experience including infrastructure, bridges, stadia, commercial and residential buildings.

Admiralty MTR Station | Hong Kong

 A flagship project on the Hong Kong MTR network connecting the new South Island Line. The project was constructed by a Kier-Laing O’Rourke-Kaden Joint Venture.

Complex and technically challenging the site was constrained by two live MTR train lines; Island Line and Tsuen Wan Line which were temporarily underpinned as part of the excavation sequence. The project has two main components, the Station Box structure which lies 45m underground, and the Tunnels and Cavern structure which sit beneath a main road, shopping mall and hotels.

HUME Planning Solutions provided planning and scheduling management,  developed a new baseline programme for the project and implemented full project controls whilst managing a team planners.






Sharq Crossing | QATAR

The Sharq Crossing Programme is a USD $10Bn designed by Santiago Calatrava  comprising of three steel bridges, one of which will be the largest spanning steel arch bridge in the world. The bridges are connected with underwater immersed tunnels and cut and cover tunnels at the land approaches. Paul was the Senior Planning Manager on the project leading the planning team on behalf of the Project Management Consultant FLUOR Mid-East.

Al Falah | UAE

A residential development covering an area of 16km² containing 5000 villas in five villages along with a Mosque and a number of village retail centres. FLUOR Mid-East were employed as Project Management Consultants and as Planning Manager, Paul managed a team of planners responsible for monitoring the contractor’s schedules and Extension of Time claim submissions. This USD $3Bn project had a peak workforce of 35,000 and achieved a milestone 50 million safe working hours.

Sowwah Square


FLUOR-Mid East were appointed as Construction Management Consultants on the Sowwah Square Project which is located on Al Maryah Island in Abu Dhabi. This project forms the central business district of Abu Dhabi and includes four commercial office towers and the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange. The project now sits as an iconic back drop to Abu Dhabi Island. As Planning Manager, Paul monitored the Main Contractor’s schedule and reported key findings and EOT claim analysis to the Project Management Consultant’s John Buck International. This USD $3Bn project with was completed in 2011.

Aldar HQ | UAE

This USD $300m commercial project located on Al Raha Beach in Abu Dhabi has been featured on various television documentaries and won the BEX Award for the most futuristic building.  As planning manager, Paul developed the baseline schedule, managed a team of planning engineers and saw the project through to a successful completion. The project was completed in 2009.

Aintree Racecourse

Aintree RaceCourse | UK

This project was a two phased project; the construction phases were in-between Grand National Horse Racing events. The project included construction of Media Suite, Parade Ring, Jockey facilities and two new Grandstands. As Project Planner, Paul was responsible for developing the baseline schedule, monitoring progress on site and managing the schedule aspects of the sub-contractors works. The project was completed in 2007..

Etihad Stadium | UK

Etihad Stadium home of Manchester City Football club is a 48,000 seater stadium built by Laing O’Rourke and was a two-phase project; the first phase was complete in 2002 for the Commonwealth Games Athletics tournament in 2002, after which the stadium was converted into a football stadium and completed in 2003 for Manchester City Football Club. Paul was an assistant planner on the project.

Manchester Aquatic Centre

Manchester Aquatic Centre | UK

The Manchester Aquatic Centre was constructed by Laing O’Rourke and has a competition sized swimming pool, a training pool,  a diving pool and recreation facilities the project was completed in the year 2000 and hosted the Commonwealth Games Swimming competitions.
